Bredhurst Woods is an area of 600 acres of ancient woodland surrounded by chalk grassland. It is situated on the North Downs, six miles north of Maidstone. It is one of the largest woods in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The woods have been cared for by local people for hundreds of years. Today, Bredhurst Woodland Action Group (BWAG) manage much of this unique landscape. A walk along the winding paths of Bredhurst Woods and the adjoining chalk grassland is a feast for the senses at any time of year where you will see ancient trees, wildflowers and a variety of wildlife. Download a map of the area, follow the numbered waymarkers and start your own discovery of the woods.

BWAG at the Bredhurst Village Show
Note: All BWAG Members are eligible to enter.
The Bredhurst Village Show is a part of Village history and has been in existence since 1966. This year’s show nearly didn’t go ahead but thanks to a small group of volunteers, it has been updated and offers much more for exhibitors and visitors. All BWAG members (and relatives/see T&Cs) are eligible to enter the show. If you’re not already a BWAG member, you can join from just £5 per year, see our web page for full details.
To see what’s on offer at this year’s ‘new look’ show, please visit the Bredhurst Village Show page www.facebook.com/BredhurstVillageShow/ Please like and share the post with your friends.
As well as lots of show entry categories, there will be loads of craft, art and produce stands selling their goods plus, of course, the BWAG stand. There’s everything on offer from locally reared meat from JW Farms to bespoke metal work by The Barefoot Welder (who exhibited at this year’s Grand Designs). There’s also live music from Ryan Sams (Live in the Woods), wood products, homemade cakes, learn how horseshoes are made, needle craft, plant advice from a professional gardener, and even a steam engine!
All the information is on the Bredhurst Village Show Facebook page. The show schedule and entry form can be downloaded here. Please enter your prize-winning veg, flowers, cakes, preserves, craft, artwork, and photographs. There are also lots of children’s categories. It will be a great day for the whole family. Stop by and enjoy the fun.
If anyone can help out on the day, either on the BWAG stand or some other job, please let Vanessa know, Tel 07813 785 940.
